The issue of procrastination is one that people of all ages and backgrounds have experienced at least once in their life time. Who hasn’t had a project or an errand to run but has postponed it until the very last minute possible? Waiting until the very last minute possible to do something or putting of what can be done today until later is something very common. And yet, no matter how common the issue is, people still ask the following question: “Why do people procrastinate?” There are many reasons why people procrastinate. The following are just some of the common answers to this age-old question.
Lack of Interest
One of the most common answers to the Why do people procrastinate question is that people just aren’t interested in the tasks at hand. They don’t want to finish essays or papers because they are not interested in the subject matter. Adults do not want to run an errand because it takes time and does not interest them. Folks do not return phone calls because they have little to no interest talking to the other people. Thus, one of the answers to the Why do people procrastinate is very basic: people simply don’t have an interest completing or even starting a task or project.
Avoiding Difficult News or Tasks
Folks often avoid or distract themselves from things that are unpleasant by procrastinating. Thus, one of the answers to the Why do people procrastinate question is that people don’t want to hear bad results or answers or because they think the task is a hard one. For example, if a car is making noises, a person may not want to hear that they need to invest in hundreds of dollars of repairs because it puts a financial strain on them and their life. Thus, instead of taking their car in for repairs, they may procrastinate on doing so. Procrastination becomes a way to keep stress and other emotions out of one’s life.
Confusion
Another reason behind the question of Why do people procrastinate is that people just don’t know how or where to start. If a person has homework on a new subject, they may procrastinate because the project seems too confusing. If a person doesn’t know where to start, then they may avoid the project instead of diving in. Thus, procrastination happens if a person has a project to start or complete that they have little to no information about.

Amongst the solutions to procrastinations are ;
-try doing or break the unpleasant task into small chunks/steps..and also, forget about the pleasant activity for a while..
-get a deadline for all your projects and make them as a realistic reminder.
-distribute tasks if you have to and do it in any that you like..as long as you start doing it.
-change our perception = change our attitude..only you yourself have the power towards yourself.
-considering the effects of putting off your work first. before you actually doing it.
